Some of the ILS elements include:

  • ILS Management
  • Integrated Support Plan (ISP)
  • Maintenance Plan, including Level of Repair Analysis (LORA)
  • LSA Plan and performance of LSA/LSAR

Design To Cost (DTC) programs and Life Cycle Costing (LCC) play key roles in total
system design efforts; especially full scale development programs. The benefits that
can be gained from a timely, well executed DTC or LCC activity can yield savings many
times over the costs incurred in conducting them. In fact, they can determine if a
program is profitable or plagued by costly overruns. ASES personnel are thoroughly
trained and experienced in:

  • DTC
    – Program planning
    – Data gathering
    – Modeling
    – Report generation
    – Conducting trade-off studies
  • LCC
    – Cost identification/structure development
    – Estimation/forecasting
    – Sensitivity analysis
    – Trade studies
    – Maintenance concept optimization

ASES would be pleased to provide additional information in the DTC/LCC area or to
assist you with any requirement you may have related to either area.

ASES can successfully meet all Maintainability Program requirements specified by MIL-STD-470.  All program phases benefit from effectively applied maintainability engineering principles.  Overall system operational readiness, manpower requirements, life cycle cost and many other areas are enhanced when careful attention is applied to the maintenance activities.  ASES services that assist in attaining these improvements include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintainability Program Plan
  • Program reviews
  • Data collection, analysis and corrective action system
  • Maintainability modeling
  • Maintainability allocation
  • Maintainability prediction
  • Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
  • Maintainability analysis, such as mean time to repair, fault detection, and levels of fault isolation
  • Maintainability design criteria
  • Maintainability trade-off analysis

With timely interaction with other engineering activities, efficient and effective progress will be realized in accomplishing and exceeding the maintainability requirements. ASES staff members are fully qualified to respond to the individual requirements of the various DoD sponsored programs.

ASES will be pleased to provide additional information in the Maintainability area and to assist you with any requirements you may have related to Systems Engineering or Logistics.

Personnel at ASES can support all aspects of a Parts Control Program.  Program objectives include the achievement of Design-to-Cost and Life Cycle Cost savings and cost avoidance.  These objectives are achieved by applying techniques that:

  • Assist equipment or system managers and their contractors in the selection of parts commensurate with contractual requirements.
  • Minimize the variety of parts used in the design.
  • Enhance interchangeability, reliability, and maintenance of design.
  • Conserve resources.

ASES can establish procedures to accomplish the above stated objectives in all areas of Design Engineering, Systems Engineering and Fabrication.

ASES would be pleased to provide additional information in the Parts Control Engineering area or assist you with any requirements you may have related to Systems Engineering or Logistics.

ASES provides a wide range of Reliability/Systems Engineering services/tasks for its customers in accordance with MIL-STD-785B.  DoD sponsored programs usually specify MIL-STD-785 Reliability Program task descriptions, depending on the particular systems or equipment program type, for the development, production, and initial deployment of systems and equipment.  These tasks include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Reliability Program Plan
  • Program reviews
  • Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS)
  • Reliability predictions (Parts Count and Stress Analysis)
  • Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
  • Circuit Tolerance Analysis
  • Parts Control Program
  • Reliability critical items
  • Fault Tree Analysis
  • EMI/EMC Analysis
  • Nuclear Hardness Analysis

ASES would be pleased to provide additional information in the Reliability area, or assist you with any requirements you may have related to Systems Engineering or Logistics.

ASES provides complete MIL-STD-882 System Safety Program Engineering support services for its customers in DoD sponsored programs.  These programs normally specify the tailored tasks to be performed by the contractor during the various phases of the program.  The two broad areas of System Safety that ASES personnel provide support services for include program management/control, and system design/evaluation.  Specific MIL-STD-882 tasks include, but are not limited to the following:

  • System Safety Program Plan (SSPP)
  • Hazard tracking and risk resolution
  • Test and evaluation safety
  • Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA)
  • Subsystem Hazard Analysis (SSHA)
  • System Hazard Analysis (SHA)

  • Training
  • Safety Assessment (SA)

ASES would be pleased to provide additional information in the System Safety area or assist you with any requirements you may have related to Systems Engineering or Logistics.

The development of technical manuals, to define and support system maintenance efforts, is often the single most important (and costly!) activity in achieving system supportability outside the actual engineering design effort itself.  The quality of the technical manuals can generate savings if it is good, or add costs if it is poor, for the entire life of the program.

The further requirement for Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) means knowledge and experience are more important than ever.   The current standards, ISO 8879, MIL-STD-2361, and MIL-STD-40051 were implemented to produce manuals that facilitate their use by operators and technicians.  Making manuals more convenient for the user means a much higher level of technical knowledge is needed for the preparation of the manuals.

ASES personnel understand these facts and consistently produce quality technical data to deliver:

  • Fully MIL-SPEC compliant technical manuals and IETMS
    – Organizational
    – Intermediate
    – Depot
  • Illustration development
  • Customer support in
    – Verification
    – Validation
    – In-process reviews
  • Technical manual related CDRLs

To aid in reducing costs, ASES has developed software that can automatically extract data from Logistics Support Analysis Record (LSAR) databases and then is used directly in technical manual development.  Task descriptions can be electronically transferred to word processors and systems designed to produce technical manuals and IETMs.  Electronically prepared parts lists can automatically be generated for Illustrated Parts Breakdown (IPB) manuals.

ASES would be pleased to provide additional information on our technical publications capabilities or help you with any requirements you might have in this area.
